Now a #1 Best-seller!

This Omnibus Edition includes the first THREE books in the best-selling Insatiable Series that readers are calling "...vivid...stomach churning...terrifying...if you are a fan of Barker or King this is a must read!" Nearly 1000 pages of grit, grime, and gore for 40% off the list price of the individual books!

There are places in this world that draw you in, and Askergan County is one of those places beautiful, serene, and peaceful. But not everything about the county is as it seems... Askergan has a dark secret. An ancient, supernatural evil prowls the country side, making sure that those who are unfortunate enough to discover this secret are unlikely to find their way out again...

Book 1 SKIN

WELCOME TO ASKERGAN COUNTY, WHERE THE LAST MURDER WAS COMMITTED MORE THAN A DECADE AGO...

Tucked away in northeastern Vermont, picturesque Askergan County is the perfect place for a winter vacation — for the lucky few who know about it. Askergan is so peaceful, crime so nonexistent, that they don't even have a full-time police force... just a Sheriff and two deputies who spend most of their time dishing out parking tickets and breaking up the occasional bar fight.

But that was before the storm.

A blizzard suddenly descends on the county, trapping Cody Lawrence and his young family inside their home. At first their only concerns are to stay inside and keep warm. But Cody soon finds out that there is more to fear than just snow and ice... something has been unleashed by the storm, something ancient, something evil. Something with primal needs.

When the power goes out and they lose cell phone service, Cody realizes that his family's only chance of survival is to team up with the Sheriff's Department and head out into the snow to face the very thing that so desperately needs their skin...

WELCOME TO ASKERGAN COUNTY, WHERE THE LAST MURDER WAS COMMITTED YESTERDAY... TODAY... AN HOUR AGO... A MINUTE AGO...

Book 2 CRACKERS

Six years has passed since the blizzard descended on idyllic Askergan County, and most residents have spent this time convincing themselves that the evil that blew in with the storm never existed. But it does exist... and it's not done with Askergan just yet.

It was the annual Father and Son fishing trip, a time to enjoy the simpler things in life... to ditch cell phones and the internet and to learn how to gut and cook fish. A time to tell campfire stories and roast marshmallows.

But for Kent Griddle and his teenage friends, it's also a time to sneak a few drinks and smoke cigarettes. A time to wander in the woods, which would be fine in most towns.

But Askergan isn't like most towns... Askergan has secrets. And as Kent and his misfit band of friends are about to find out, there are certain places in Askergan that should be left alone. Because for six years Askergan's secrets have laid dormant, waiting to be awakened...

Book 3 FLESH

Some people are lucky enough to escape Askergan County. Others are not so fortunate. Others still are destined to return to the County, even if it means that they are unlikely to ever get out again...

The last thing the surviving Lawrence family members want to do is return to the place that stole so much from them. But for a select few, the desire to find answers is as unrelenting as the snow. And Corina Lawrence needs to know...

She quickly finds out that things have changed in Askergan. And not for the better.

Four boys have unleashed an ancient evil, only this time the horrors that left the Lawrence family and the Police Department battered have infected the entire County... and it won't stop until it has consumed the flesh of every last man, woman, and child.

Note: I have reviewed the individual books under their own entries in the store, but wanted to give the collected omnibus its own quicker review...

Ask yourself if the following premise, "What if Alien took part in a Stephen King novel?", sounds intriguing. Then ask yourself if seeing that premise executed as a SyFy monster movie in the style of a 1980s horror film, complete with an inexperienced screen writer, director, and an embarrassingly low budget sounds like a good idea. If the answer to both those questions are solidly yes, you might want to read this book collection. If not, move along, this is not the book for you.

However, even if you did respond affirmatively to those questions, that is still no guarantee you're going to enjoy this omnibus collection.

The biggest fault with these books is that Patrick Logan is not writing to craft books that will be remembered twenty years from now, he's churning out barely corrected finished drafts to generate a series of continuing sales. I think too much has been sacrificed in the process. There is some solid talent here; when he hits all the right notes in crafting a particular scene, it's great, but the larger whole is a derivative mess where not all the pieces fit together, and a bunch of stuff was left in the box. Too many characters who serve little to no purpose, too many side plots that aren't engaging and don't have anything direct to do with the main story, too much pedanticism setting up or showing some things (that generally don't need it) while bitterly needed supporting elements go unexplained throughout; these are not bad books, they're just not good books either.

I didn't dislike the time I spent in Askergan, for all the predictable twists, scantily developed characters, inexplicable behaviors, and underdeveloped necessary information, I still finished the trilogy noticeably over the 50 yard line (but nowhere near the end zone either). There's nothing original here in the larger plot, most of the characters are a bit on the thinly developed side no matter how much time is spent on them, and the one thing that could have held it together, the big bad that's responsible for racking up the body count in the three books is more than a bit unevenly developed and executed. Throw in an annoying tendency to use homonym word substitutions (e.g. populous for populace, or not for naught) and missing words to show how amateur hour the proof reading and editing process was and you have a product that's hard for me to recommend to my fellow readers.

My recommendation is that, if this review hasn't turned you off and you can't help but wonder why there are so many good reviews for the books, you wait and see if you can't get this omnibus edition as a daily deal like I did. That way if you find yourself like me, or worse, you won't be out much. And if you find yourself more forgiving of the faults, theres a fourth book coming out within weeks of me posting this and a fifth scheduled before the end of the year, so you'll have plenty of opportunity to reward Patrick Logan for his, um, craft.

Insatiable Series Omnibus Edition Books 13 edition by Patrick Logan Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews

Well written and enough intrigue to make you read more. I really enjoyed this book and I am not a very good fan of alien invasion mysteries. Well written and thoroughly enjoyable.
not scary per say, and each book is a little derivative of the last, but worth a look if you like dark horror.
Page turning and interesting all the way. I love his books and stories. Never can get enough of his tgrills
Definitely not Stephen King or Clive Barker!! Not even close! Sometimes interesting but predictable as well. Overall an ok book.
I wasn't sure what to expect, but.....I couldn't put the books down. Each book started where the last one left off and the suspense kept building and building. I love this kind of horror and suspense. Gets your heart pounding and you get anxious to find out what is going to happen next. Never would have guessed the ending. I was sorry it ended. Can't wait to start the 4th one. I highly recommend these 3 books. The characters were an excellent fit for the story. I give it 5 stars............You won't be able to stop reading either!
Loved them! Honestly, it wasn't what I expected going through all three... but that's a good thing seeing as I usually have a book figured about halfway through. Read all 3 books in 4 days (working 8 hours each day) if that tells you anything. Definitely recommend!
Very good creep factor.theres something about horror in a snow storm that just gives a sense of hopelessness and makes your blood run cold.very well written characters. The third book was action packed and the creepiest of all..the creepy crawlers in the third book were aggressive and plentiful and provide me with the same sense of hopelessness as the blizzard in the first book.i couldn't read these books fast enough.over all very pleased With these books..some very disturbing visuals...I like disturbing..keep up the good work!
